Pokemon Quetzal 0.9.1 Overview
You can begin in Kanto, Johto or Hoenn. Kanto follows Pokemon FireRed, including its islands; Johto follows the Johto adventure from Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver; and Hoenn follows Pokemon Emerald. All three regions can be completed.
Version 0.9.1 lets you start another region and switch between adventures through MISC → TRAVEL without first completing all of their Leagues. Introduction requirements and location or event restrictions still apply. New region-start choices let you share or separate teams and resources.
The starter selection now contains 84 Pokemon, and random starters can be set to 1, 3 or ALL. This choice takes priority over the Wild Pokémon limitation, and Chaos does not change the selected amount. Antigrind adds free leveling through POKÉMON → TRAIN → LEVEL UP, using the Maxicaramelo criteria to determine the available level. It allows evolution afterward and remains available after the League. You can also choose to receive the regular Bicycle at the start.
The game is fully available in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. It includes all Pokemon from Bulbasaur through Pecharunt, plus the Generation 10 starters. The battle system and items are updated through Generation 9, with Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax, Gigantamax and Terastallization.

How to Install and Play
Pokemon Quetzal runs through a GBA emulator. To play, open the Pokemon Quetzal .gba game file in the emulator. Extract ZIP downloads first and keep any instructions included with the download.
Windows, macOS and Linux
- Download mGBA for your operating system and set it up.
- Download your chosen Pokemon Quetzal language from the table above and extract the ZIP archive.
- Open mGBA and load the Pokemon Quetzal
.gbafile.
Android
- Install a GBA emulator such as Pizza Boy A Basic, My Boy! Lite or Lemuroid Emulator.
- Download Pokemon Quetzal in your preferred language and extract the ZIP archive.
- Open your emulator, select the folder containing the game and load the
.gbafile.
Pokemon Quetzal itself is not an Android APK. The emulator is the Android app; the game is opened inside it.
iPhone and iPad
- Install Delta using its official installation guide. Delta is available through the App Store outside the EU and through AltStore PAL in the EU.
- Download your chosen language, extract the ZIP archive and keep the
.gbafile in the Files app. - Open Delta, tap the + button and import the Pokemon Quetzal
.gbafile. Select the imported game to play.
These steps cover opening the game. For multiplayer, check your emulator’s link-play support and connection instructions separately.
Before Updating an Existing Save
Make a separate backup of your existing save and keep your current game file before trying a different version. Do not overwrite your only save or rely on an old emulator save state as your only backup.
Keep those backups untouched until you have confirmed that your progress loads and saves correctly in the new version.

Do I need both the MediaFire and MEGA downloads?
No. They are alternative download locations for each language. Choose one link from the row for the language you want.
Why can my emulator not find the game?
Check that you have extracted the ZIP archive and are selecting the .gba game file, not the folder containing it. Also check that your emulator can access the folder where you saved the game.
Do I need other players to play Pokemon Quetzal?
No. You can play alone. Multiplayer is optional and supports up to four players in total.

It’s a level cap mechanic; your Pokémon will only level up after defeating the Gym Leader and the Elite Four.

I run the game through RetroArch on android with the mGBA core. whenever I stand close to grass tiles, but still outside them, i randomly get a wil encounter with an invisible pokemon with no name. if I attack it or try to catch it, the whole battle screen bugs out, and I have to reload my save to be able to play again..
